Tube & Pipe India: What will you showcase at Tube Düsseldorf to highlight India’s technological capabilities and manufacturing excellence to a global audience?

Ramakant Jagtap: At Tube Düsseldorf, Anup NDT will showcase the latest generation of high-speed in-line eddy current testing systems. These systems are designed to detect surface and sub-surface flaws in tubes and pipes at maximum production speeds without contact. We are highlighting India’s capability to produce intelligence-led hardware- equipment that doesn’t just detect defects but uses advanced signal processing and real-time data analytics to help manufacturers optimize their entire production line.

TPI: International trade fairs play a crucial role in shaping industry collaborations. How do platforms like Tube Düsseldorf help Indian manufacturers connect with global markets and customers?

RJ: These fairs are the global town square for the industry. For a specialized manufacturer like us, it’s about building trust. NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) is a critical safety function; meeting a client face-to-face and demonstrating our equipment’s precision allows us to move from being a vendor to a technology partner. It bridges the geographical gap and aligns Indian innovations with European and American quality expectations.

TPI: From your participation at Tube Düsseldorf, what key global market insights are you hoping to gain and bring back to strengthen India’s tube and pipe manufacturing ecosystem?

RJ: We are looking closely at the transition towards green hydrogen and high-pressure carbon capture pipelines. These sectors require zero-compromise testing standards. By understanding the evolving ASTM and ISO standards discussed at Düsseldorf, we can bring those insights back to India to ensure our domestic tube and pipe manufacturers are export-ready for the next generation of energy infrastructure.

TPI: Over the years, how have you seen India’s representation evolve at international trade fairs, and how do you contribute to strengthening India’s image as a global engineering hub?

RJ: India has moved from “low-cost sourcing” to “high-tech engineering.” Years ago, India was known for the tubes themselves; today, we are known for the technology that tests those tubes. Anup NDT contributes by proving that India can compete with the best German or American NDT brands in terms of software sophistication, UI/UX, and sensor sensitivity, reinforcing India’s image as a sophisticated engineering hub.

TPI: What core Indian manufacturing strengths differentiate you on the global stage? For what turnkey solutions is the world looking at India?

RJ: Our strength lies in agile customization. Unlike rigid global giants, Anup NDT provides turnkey NDT integration, meaning we don’t just sell a box; we design the mechanical handling, the sensors, and the software to fit the client’s specific mill layout. The world is looking to India for “value-engineered technology”—high-end performance at a sustainable life cycle cost.

TPI: Technology partnerships and acquisitions are critical today. How are Indo-global collaborations helping reinforce India’s engineering leadership?

RJ: Collaborations allow for the best of both worlds approach. By integrating global sensor technologies or high-end components with Indian software prowess and manufacturing agility, we create products that are globally competitive. These partnerships help us adopt global best practices in quality control faster than ever before.

TPI: Which international regions do you see as strategic growth markets, and how is India positioned as your global manufacturing base to support these expansions?

RJ: We see significant growth in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe, where infrastructure and automotive sectors are booming. India is the perfect base because of our strong engineering talent pool and a robust local steel industry that serves as a massive “live laboratory” for us to test and perfect our NDT equipment before exporting it.

TPI: How are cost pressures across raw materials, energy, or logistics being managed without compromising product reliability or compliance?

RJ: We focus on smart manufacturing by using our own NDT technology within our processes, we reduce waste. Additionally, our equipment is designed for remote diagnostics. This allows us to support a client in Europe or the USA from our base in India, significantly reducing the logistics and maintenance costs for the end-user while maintaining 100% uptime and compliance.

TPI: How are sustainability expectations from customers or regulators translating into changes in product design, manufacturing practices, or material choices?

RJ: Sustainability in NDT means zero failure with desired sensitivity. Our high-precision eddy current systems catch defects early in the production cycle, preventing the wastage of energy and raw materials on defective final products. We are also moving toward paperless quality reporting, where all test results are digitally logged and cloud-stored, supporting our customers’ “Green Factory” initiatives.
