ArcelorMittal to Build World’s Largest Single Steel Manufacturing Factory in Gujarat by 2029

Leading global steel producer ArcelorMittal to build the world’s single largest steel manufacturing factory at Hazira in Gujarat having capacity of 24 million tonnes per annum.

Leading global steel manufacturer ArcelorMittal has announced that it will build the world’s single largest steel manufacturing factory at Hazira in Gujarat by 2029.

The announcement was made by Executive Chairman of ArcelorMittal, Lakshmi Mittal, during the recent Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024.  

Mr. Mittal said the factory will have a capacity of 24 million tonnes per annum, adding that ArcelorMittal has signed MoUs with the Gujarat government for phase two of the Hazira plant in the summit.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had done the ‘bhumi puja’ for the first phase of the plant in 2021 and the construction was going on as per schedule for commissioning in 2026, noted the Executive Chairman of the world’s leading steel producer.

He said the company was confident of completing this project over the next five years with the support of the state government.
