Mr. Kshitij Morarka, General Manager-Marketing, Control Print Limited, informed during his recent interaction with Tube & Pipe India.
Tube & Pipe India: Kindly walk us through the business journey of Control Print, starting from 1991 to 2024, highlighting major milestones and crucial achievements.
Kshitij Morarka: Established in 1991, Control Print has built a rich legacy spanning over three decades, establishing itself as a trusted leader in the coding and marking field. The company provides cutting-edge solutions for a diverse range of industries. In 1993, Control Print achieved a significant milestone by being listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). The company set up its first manufacturing facility in Nalagarh, Himachal Pradesh in 2006. By the end of 2008, it was manufacturing continuous inkjet printers, large character printers, thermal transfer over printers and consumables at this facility.
In 2010, Control Print received ISO 9001:2008 certification, further cementing its commitment to quality. In 2013, the company expanded internationally, establishing its presence in Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. The following year, Control Print set up its second manufacturing unit in Guwahati, Assam, where it began manufacturing thermal inkjet printers. In 2020, Control Print expanded its brand portfolio by launching The Mask Lab, a premium PPE solutions provider. In July 2022, we strategically acquired a 75 percent stake in the Netherlands-based company Markprint BV to strengthen our presence in the European market. In 2023, Control Print introduced QRiousCodes, a cloud-based track and trace solution, and additionally acquired V-Shapes, a leading supplier of sustainable single-dose packaging machinery.
TPI: Please share information about your manufacturing facilities and annual production capacity.
KM: We have two technologically advanced factories, set up in Nalagarh, Himachal Pradesh and Guwahati, Assam. The Nalagarh facility, spanning 30,000 square feet, was established in 2008. It ensures efficient production, while the Guwahati facility covers 65,000 square feet and commenced operations in 2015.
TPI: What does the product basket of Control Print contain? Which are the industries where your products find application?
KM: Our coding and marking solutions include continuous inkjet printer, thermal inkjet printer, thermal transfer overprinter, laser printer, large character printer, and high-resolution printer, along with consumables & service for each solution. Our applications span a wide range of industries, including agriculture & seeds, automotive, beverages, building & construction material, cable & wire, cement, chemicals & lubricants, electronics, FMCG, food, healthcare, packaging, plywood, pipes & extruded plastics, rubber & tires, steel & metals, and textiles.
TPI: What is the USP of Control Print which sets it apart from others?
KM: With over three decades of presence, we are one of the significant Indian manufacturer of coding and marking equipment. TPI: How do you plan to enhance your business presence in India as well as at the global level?
KM: Our strategy focuses on driving higher consumables sales alongside improved industrial production. We anticipate exponential growth from newly-launched products, targeting the replacement market, OEM, and key accounts as primary drivers. Our focused marketing plans aim to capture last-mile users, supported by a dedicated internal team for generating new leads and direct sales to small customers. We aim to increase our market share through a growing installed base of printers and expand globally by accessing new markets and technologies through both organic and inorganic means.
TPI: Kindly share your views on trade fairs. How do you think such events help the industry?
KM: Trade fairs play a vital role in the B2B industry by providing a platform for businesses to showcase their products, network with potential clients and partners, and gain insights into industry trends and competitor strategies. These events facilitate direct interactions, fostering relationships and enabling businesses to generate leads, close deals, and enhance their market presence.
TPI: What are your expectations from Tube & Pipe Fair 2024?
KM: We would like to use this platform to exhibit and create more awareness about our coding and marking solutions for the tube & pipe industry.
