Gautam Adani’s conglomerate will build a PVC plant at Mundra in Gujarat with a capacity of 1 million tonne per annum, as per media reports. This new plant will mark the conglomerate’s entry into the petrochemicals sector where Reliance Industries is the main player.

Adani Enterprises Limited, the flagship company of the Adani Group, will establish the petrochemical hub that will be operational by fiscal 2028 (April 2027 to March 2028). The facility will also include production units for chlor-alkali, calcium carbide, and acetylene.

According to the report, necessary environmental clearances and establishment approvals for the project have already been obtained. This new plant will help reduce the country’s reliance on PVC imports.

Meanwhile, Reliance, India’s largest PVC producer with an estimated capacity of 750,000 tonnes per year across its plants in Hazira, Dahej, and Vadodara, plans to double its PVC capacity by 2027.
