The newly commissioned 250 MT BOF Converter, together with Blast Furnace 2, synchronises hot metal and steelmaking capacities, enabling higher throughput into downstream product lines. This expansion represents a key milestone in India’s steel self-reliance drive.
With Angul’s total capacity now at 9 MTPA, Jindal Steel is on track to achieve 12 MTPA capacity within the current financial year. The integrated expansion is expected to enhance supplies of Indian-made steel across infrastructure, automotive, oil & gas, energy, and real estate sectors.

“The new BOF is now running, and the first heat has been tapped. With this, Angul gains real muscle in steelmaking. Every tonne we produce here strengthens India’s ability to rely on its own capacity,” said Naveen Jindal, Chairman of Jindal Steel.
