ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AMNS) has unveiled its long-term expansion plan to increase its domestic production of steel by three folds to 25-26 million tonnes per annum. The expansion consists of capacity increase in Hazira steel plant, Gujarat and a greenfield steel mill project in Andhra Pradesh.

ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AMNS) has unveiled its long-term expansion plan. Under this new plan, the company will increase its domestic production of steel by three folds to 25-26 million tonnes per annum.
The expansion will happen in the company’s existing Hazira steel plant in Gujarat. The Hazira mill will double its capacity from 9 million tonnes per year to 18 million tonnes, reaching 15 million tonnes per annum by 2026.
Alongside, the company will also undertake a greenfield steel mill project in Andhra Pradesh. Having a capacity of 8.2 million tonnes per annum, the project is scheduled for completion by 2030.

Both the projects will be supported by a Capex of USD 6.25 billion that will be invested in 2 phases in 2026-27 and 2027-28. The company will also develop a 7GW renewable energy capacity by 2032, to enhance low-carbon energy consumption across its operations.
