Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), one of the largest government-owned engineering and manufacturing companies in India, has flagged off the first consignment of SA213-T12 grade seamless steel tubes for the current financial year to the high pressure boiler plant (HPBP), located in the same complex at Tiruchirappalli.

Mr. S Prabhakar, Executive Director of BHEL Trichy, recently flagged off the consignment weighing 75 tonnes.

The tubes were manufactured at Seamless Steel Tube Plant (SSTP), located in BHEL’s Trichy complex. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Prabakar said that SSTP has been a unique and strategic unit of BHEL for more than five decades.

The official said that SSTP helped in ensuring profitability of BHEL Trichy, while explaining the role of SSTP in saving the cost in the procurement of steel tubes for manufacturing boilers. He assured that all efforts would be made to sustain, improve, and modernise the plant.

As per Mr. Prabhakar, an upward trend was prevailing in the order book status of BHEL in the conventional thermal business, giving them confidence that they would get more orders from public as well as private utilities.
