BirlaNu Limited is set to diversify into OPVC pipe manufacturing with a new 5,000 MTPA facility at Patna, part of its INR 160–170 crore greenfield expansion plan over the next 18 months.

BirlaNu Limited (formerly HIL Limited), part of the C.K. Birla Group is expanding its product portfolio with a greenfield OPVC pipe manufacturing plant at Patna.
The company is planning an initial Phase 1 capacity of around 5,000 MTPA, backed by an investment of INR 160–INR 170 crore over the next 12–18 months. The project also includes a 72,000 MTPA fibre cement board plant in Andhra Pradesh.

According to ICRA’s latest credit review, the expansion is expected to be funded through a mix of debt and internal accruals. While the company faces near-term margin pressures due to higher raw material costs and muted demand in some segments, the OPVC pipe venture is aimed at strengthening BirlaNu’s presence in the fast-growing building materials sector.
