The Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR), the investigative arm of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has recommended the continuation of anti-dumping duties on welded stainless steel pipes and tubes imported from China & Vietnam.
As per a recent DGTR notification, the decision aimed at safeguarding the Indian manufacturers against unfair subsidized imports.
The government body warned that if these anti-subsidy duties were lifted, it would cause potential harm to the local industry. The DGTR recommended an extension of the current duties, with tariffs reaching up to 29.88 percent.
This decision comes as Chinese producers face declining domestic demand for stainless steel and excessive production capacity.
