JSW Steel Commissions Hot Strip Mill at Karnataka Plant

The Hot Strip Mill facility at JSW Steel’s integrated steel plant in Vijayanagar, Karnataka has the capacity to manufacture plates and coils of 5 million tonnes per annum. The mill is equipped with digital reheating furnaces, evaporative cooling system and waste heat recovery system.

Leading global manufacturers of steel products, JSW Steel, has announced successful commissioning of a hot strip mill (HSM) at its integrated steel plant in Vijayanagar, Karnataka with a 5 million TPA capacity. 

The company said in an exchange filing that JSW Vijayanagar Metallics Limited (JVML), a wholly-owned subsidiary of JSW Steel, has also made the first dispatch of steel products from the facility, which has been equipped with advanced features such as digital reheating furnaces, evaporative cooling system and waste heat recovery system, among others.

The trial runs of the HSM facility, which has the capability to manufacture plates and coils, started on March 17, 2024. It started commercial manufacturing and sales after successful completion of quality and delivery testing.

The mill has been equipped with advanced features such as digital reheating furnaces, evaporative cooling system and waste heat recovery system, among others.
