JSW Utkal Steel (JUSL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of JSW Steel, has commenced a project development of its 13.2 MTPA Integrated Steel Plant in Paradeep, Odisha. The ceremony was graced by Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, alongside Chairman of the JSW Group, Mr. Sajjan Jindal. ‘‘‘This marks the beginning of an ambitious new chapter in India’s steel manufacturing growth story,’’ posted the company on its social media handle.

In its executive summary, the company shares that Odisha, with its significant iron ore reserve and long coastline offers an ideal location for setting up a steel plant. Geographic proximity to potential coal mines in Jharkhand provides an additional logistics advantage for steel manufacturing. The iron ore belt of Odisha is well connected by highways, which provides suitable infrastructure to transport the iron slurry through slurry pipeline, considered to be the most environment friendly and economic mode of conveying iron ore.
