Lloyds Metals and Energy Limited has taken a significant step forward in streamlining its iron ore logistics by commissioning an 85-kilometre slurry pipeline at its Surjagarh mine in Maharashtra. Designed to transport up to 10 million tonnes per annum of material, the pipeline will drastically reduce reliance on road transport. In its next phase, the pipeline is expected to stretch over 195 kilometres, further enhancing operational efficiency.

With the ability to move around 30,000 tonnes of iron ore daily, the pipeline will feed material directly to the company’s pelletisation plant near Konsari. This shift to pipeline-based transportation not only improves logistics but also reduces the environmental footprint associated with heavy truck movement.

This development aligns with Lloyds Metals’ broader expansion strategy. The project is expected to be operational shortly with plans to construct 3 more pellet plants in June.

The company had previously sought environmental clearance to raise the mining capacity at Surjagarh from 10 million to 25 million tonnes per year, positioning it as one of the largest non-coal mining operations in India.

These infrastructure and capacity upgrades are likely connected to Lloyds’ proposed greenfield facility in Konsari, signalling a major growth phase for the company in India’s steel and mining sector.
