Lloyds Metals and Energy Limited have received environmental clearance from the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change to establish a 1.2 million tonne per annum wire rod project and a 4 million tonne per annum pellet plant in Maharashtra.

Lloyds Metals and Energy Limited have received environmental clearance from the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change for two large-scale projects in Ghugus, Chandrapur, Maharashtra. The company plans to establish a 1.2 million tonne per annum wire rod project and a 4 million tonne per annum pellet plant.
The announcement follows Lloyds Metals’ strong performance in its direct reduced iron (DRI) production, which saw a 22% year-on-year growth, reaching 238,000 tonnes in the nine-month period ending January 2025.

Previously, the company launched notable projects in Maharashtra, including a 3,24,000-tonne sponge iron plant, a 0.216 million-tonne coal washery, and a 25 MW power plant. The latest expansion plans also include a 0.84 million tonne per annum blast furnace, a 0.4 million tonne per annum coke oven, a 670-tonne-per-day oxygen plant, and a 1.05 million tonne per annum EAF-based steel melting shop.
