Maharashtra Industries Minister Uday Samant has announced an INR 1 lakh crore plan aimed at transforming Gadchiroli into a major hub for steel production. The initiative is part of a wider effort to build a strong industrial ecosystem in eastern Maharashtra, which will also drive steel-related growth in surrounding districts like Chandrapur, Gondia, and Bhandara.
The Minister highlighted that Maharashtra is fulfilling commitments made at the World Economic Forum in Davos, with 85–87% of agreements already underway. Moreover, the state has attracted fresh investments worth INR 1.45 lakh crore this year.

Beyond Gadchiroli, industrial projects worth INR 60,000 crore are lined up for Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and INR 30,000 crore for Ratnagiri. To support these plans, land acquisition is progressing for new industrial estates, including the Auric City project in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, as well as the Mhaswad Industrial Corridor and the Dighi Port Corridor. Additionally, the newly launched District Industry Council initiative aims to boost investor confidence and streamline project implementation.
