Tube & Pipe India: Kindly walk us through your business journey, highlighting major milestones and crucial achievements.

Nishant Garg: Established in 2008 by Late Shri Mahesh Khandelwal, MKK Metal Sections Private Limited has since only flourished and crossed many milestones. Started with the ability to produce 1,00,000 MTPA, we are virtually ready to triple that amount with the launch of our new DFT line this year. In 2019, we were the first company in South India to manufacture tube sizes of CHS up to 406.4mm OD, SHS 300mmx300mm and RHS 400mmx200mm. In 2021, we commissioned our in-house galvanizing plant for tubes and structures, one of the few in the country to galvanize structures longer than 6 meters. With a constant focus on development and R&D, we have grown our product range to include solar mounting structures, warehouse racking systems and crash barriers for highways. With quality being our backbone, we also received ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018, along with CE certification in 2013.

TPI: Please share information about your manufacturing units, along with your annual production capacity

NG: The combined annual production capacity of both our plants in Ranipet stands at 3,00,000 MTPA. With multiple tube rolling mills, including soon-to-be-commissioned state-of-the-art DFT line, a dozen cold rolling mills for sections, colour coated roofing mills, a 9 meters dipping tank galvanizing unit, and our own slitting lines, we are a fully equipped plant to cater to all sizes and specifications of tubes, pipes and sections. All kinds of testing, such as hydra, eddy current and UV spectrum testing are possible in our certified quality lab.

We are currently in the process of installing our DFT machine, which will manufacture sizes up to 350mmx350mm and thicknesses of up to 16mm. It will support MKK in doubling its production capacity in the next two years.

TPI: Please tell us about your product range and the sectors where your products find application.

NG: We have a range of over 1100 products, including varieties of circular, square & rectangle MS black pipes & hollow sections, galvanized tubes & structures, shutters, purlins, solar module mounting structures, colour-coated roofing sheets, warehouse racking systems, and crash barrier systems for highways in varying sizes & thicknesses. These products find direct application in infrastructure, construction, automobiles and other allied heavy industries.

TPI: What is the USP of MKK Metal Sections, which gives it an edge over others?

NG: The USP of MKK revolves around the sizes that are not easily manufactured as well as customizations that other manufacturers do not commonly produce. Any size, any thickness- MKK is always ready to rise to the challenge, making it the most attractive plant for OEMs. With our track record of unmatched quality and on-time deliveries, we are also a client favorite for rarely available sizes.

TPI: Kindly tell us more about your market footprint and major clientele.

NG: Logistics plays the most challenging role in heavy industries. Located in Southern India, earlier our client base was mainly Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. But now with constant developments and the kind of range we offer, we are able to make a footprint across the country since it is unheard of to be a service provider in the heavy manufacturer sector. Also taking advantage of our presence near the port, we have begun exporting to various countries in Europe and the American continent.

TPI: Research plays an important role in the growth of a company. Kindly elaborate.

Srishti Garg: Research is fundamental to any industry. Without research into the latest technologies or the applications of products, we cannot make further developments and there is no success in remaining stagnant. In an industry like ours, being stagnant equals being obsolete. Without technological advancements, we cannot improve our efficiency and compete in today’s fast-paced market. Keeping up with world trends and updating oneself and the company is of utmost importance.

TPI: How do you plan to enhance your business presence in India as well as at the global level?

SG: This is a segment we are currently focussing on. We participated in the Tube 2024, held this year in Dusseldorf, Germany, and have been making our presence felt in trade fairs across the country. Years of fruitful labour have created the brand METPRO, which is synonymous with commitment and quality. Our plan now is to make its strength felt across the globe.

TPI: Kindly share your views on trade fairs. How do you think such events help the industry?

SG: Such events are important to not only display the products but display the values and ethics a brand holds by meeting the faces behind it. In an industry like tube & pipe, the physical properties of a product by all manufacturers remain the same, but what truly matters is the commitment to work together and build greater things. It is a great platform that brings all stakeholders of the industry from across the country under one roof. It enables the exchange of ideas and thoughts and helps in building relationships, which are not possible otherwise. It is very important to continue these fairs to build and strengthen the industry.

TPI: What are your expectations from Tube & Pipe Fair 2024?

SG: We are hoping to unlock a new geographic location of the state of Telangana, which boasts of a thriving tube and pipe industry by bringing ourselves here. It would be great to meet and understand the needs of this market and showcase our product range. It is an exciting time in the country to be a part of the infrastructural industry with growth being the focus everywhere. The exhibition also serves as a great platform to meet existing clients and build new relationships.

TPI: Please share recent developments at MKK Metal Sections. Where do you see yourself five years down the line?

SG: We are currently in the process of installing our DFT machine, which will manufacture sizes up to 350mmx350mm and thicknesses of up to 16mm. It will support MKK in doubling its production capacity in the next two years. Besides, we are constantly improving and decreasing breakdowns to increase the output of our current tube lines. This will help us achieve our vision of expanding to be a strong infrastructural backbone of India.
