Joydeep Dasgupta’s leadership at NMDC is expected to accelerate the company’s vision of producing 100 million tonnes of iron ore annually by 2030, focusing on sustainable mining practices.

Joydeep Dasgupta has been appointed as the Director (Production) of NMDC Limited, effective 15 November 2024. NMDC, a Navratna public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Steel which is India’s largest producer of iron ore.
With over three decades of mining industry experience, Mr. Dasgupta previously served as Executive Director (Mines) at SAIL’s Jharkhand Group of Mines, spearheading capacity expansion, ISO audits, and system enhancements. He also played a key role as CEO of International Coal Ventures Private Limited (ICVL), managing coal mining operations in Mozambique and ensuring a steady supply of coking and thermal coal to Indian steel giants like SAIL and RINL.
Over the years, he has held significant positions, including Unit Head at SAIL’s Bokaro Steel Plant. He has also completed advanced technical training in Austria and participated in a global techno-management program in Paris.
