As industries increasingly demand customized, high-performance steel solutions, JTL Industries Limited is positioning itself beyond conventional manufacturing to become a comprehensive solutions partner. In an exclusive interview with Tube & Pipe India, Mr. Dhruv Singla, Executive Director, JTL Industries Limited, discusses how evolving steel quality standards, pricing volatility, and changing end-user expectations are reshaping manufacturing strategies in the tube and pipe sector. He also highlights the growing demand from infrastructure, renewable energy, precision engineering, and electric mobility sectors, while outlining JTL’s focus on value-added products, process optimization, technological advancement, and customer-centric turnkey solutions designed to deliver long-term reliability and operational efficiency.

Tube & Pipe India: How are the evolving steel dynamics—quality, pricing, availability—shaping your manufacturing strategy of steel pipes, tubes and other products?
Dhruv Singla: The steel industry today is witnessing rapid shifts in raw material pricing, quality expectations, and supply chain dynamics. As a manufacturer, our strategy is focused on balancing cost competitiveness with consistent product quality and operational reliability. We are increasingly strengthening our sourcing network, working closely with reputed steel producers, and adopting a more agile procurement strategy to mitigate volatility in pricing and availability.
At the manufacturing level, we are investing in process optimization, automation, and quality monitoring systems to improve yield efficiency and reduce wastage. We are also moving toward higher-grade steels and value-added products that offer better performance and longer life cycles for end users. In a dynamic market, flexibility, quality assurance, and operational efficiency are becoming the key differentiators.
TPI: In the tube and pipe sector, how critical is steel quality in determining product performance, reliability, and end-use acceptance? How do you ensure the best quality of your pipes and tubes?
DS: Steel quality is the foundation of performance in the tube and pipe industry. The mechanical strength, dimensional accuracy, corrosion resistance, weld integrity, and durability of pipes and tubes are all directly influenced by the quality of steel used. In critical sectors such as infrastructure, automotive, energy, engineering, and construction, even minor inconsistencies can significantly impact performance and safety.
To ensure the highest standards, we follow a stringent quality control framework right from raw material selection to final dispatch. Every stage of production undergoes rigorous inspection and testing, including chemical and mechanical analysis, dimensional checks, hydro testing, and non-destructive testing wherever required. We also continuously upgrade our manufacturing technologies and maintain strict adherence to national and international quality standards. Our focus is not only on compliance, but on delivering long-term reliability and customer confidence.
TPI: Which end-use sectors are currently driving demand for your steel products, and how is this influencing your portfolio?
DS: Demand is currently being driven by infrastructure development, construction, automotive, renewable energy, agriculture, engineering, and industrial fabrication sectors. Government-led infrastructure initiatives and increasing investments in urban development and transportation are creating strong demand for high-quality pipes and tubes.
At the same time, sectors such as solar structures, precision engineering, and electric mobility are creating opportunities for specialized products. This evolving demand pattern is encouraging us to diversify our portfolio toward application-oriented and higher value-added products, while continuing to strengthen our core offerings. We are aligning our production capabilities to serve both volume-driven and niche segments efficiently.
TPI: Are customers increasingly looking for application-specific steel products rather than standard offerings? If yes, how are you catering to the demand?
DS: Yes, there is a clear shift toward application-specific solutions. Customers today expect products tailored to their operational requirements rather than generic standard offerings. Industries are looking for improved strength, tighter tolerances, superior surface finish, enhanced corrosion resistance, and customized dimensions depending on the application.
To address this demand, we work closely with customers to understand their technical requirements and usage conditions. We have enhanced our capability to offer customized grades, sizes, coatings, and finishes, along with flexible production planning. Our approach is increasingly solution-oriented, where we focus on delivering performance-based products that improve efficiency and reduce lifecycle costs for customers.

Our focus is on strengthening capabilities that enable us to provide integrated solutions—from product development and customization to timely delivery and technical support. We are also enhancing collaboration with downstream partners and technology providers to support customers with more comprehensive and efficient solutions. The objective is to become a trusted solutions partner rather than just a product supplier.
TPI: With turnkey solutions in the tube & pipe sector taking a gradual and selective spotlight, how do you view your business evolving or what steps are you taking in the direction to provide end-to-end solutions to the customers?
DS: The industry is gradually moving from product-centric supply to solution-centric partnerships. Customers increasingly prefer suppliers who can support them beyond manufacturing by offering technical guidance, processing support, logistics coordination, and reliable after-sales service.
We see this as a significant opportunity for long-term value creation.
TPI: Does offering a wider range of turnkey solutions provide a competitive edge, or does it add operational complexity?
DS: It certainly provides a competitive edge, provided it is managed strategically. Customers value suppliers who can simplify procurement, improve coordination, and deliver consistent quality across multiple requirements. A wider solutions portfolio helps strengthen customer relationships and creates long-term business sustainability.
At the same time, diversification does bring operational complexity in terms of inventory management, production planning, quality control, and service expectations. Therefore, success depends on strong systems, process discipline, and technological integration. We believe that with the right operational framework and customer-focused approach, the benefits of offering broader solutions significantly outweigh the challenges.
TPI: How do you ensure consistency and quality across your diversified product portfolio?
DS: Consistency in quality is achieved through standardization, process control, and continuous improvement. We maintain strict quality protocols across all product categories and ensure that every product undergoes defined inspection and testing procedures before reaching the customer.
Technology also plays a major role in maintaining consistency. We are continuously investing in modern manufacturing equipment, automation, and monitoring systems that minimize process variation and improve precision. Equally important is our skilled workforce, regular training programs, and strong quality culture across the organization. Our aim is to ensure that every product reflects the same reliability, regardless of application or segment.

TPI: Going forward, will growth be driven more by scale in core products or by diversification into specialized steel applications?
DS: Future growth will come from a balanced combination of both. Scale in core products will remain essential for operational efficiency, market reach, and competitiveness. However, the real differentiation and sustainable value creation will increasingly come from specialized and application-oriented products.
As industries evolve, demand for advanced, high-performance steel solutions will continue to rise. Companies that can combine strong manufacturing scale with innovation, customization, and technical expertise will be better positioned for long-term growth. Our strategy is therefore focused on strengthening our core business while steadily expanding into value-added and specialized applications that align with future market requirements.
