Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has laid the foundation stone of JSW Group’s steel integrated plant having an annual manufacturing capacity of 13.2 million tonnes (MT) and captive jetty having cargo-handling capacity of 52 MTPA, to be set up at an estimated investment of INR 65,000 crore.
The JSW Steel and the JSW Group entities have envisaged an investment of approximately Rs 65,000 crore, subject to necessary approvals, in order to establish this integrated complex in a phased manner, the company said in a filing with the BSE.
It said the complex at Dhinkia Nuagaon and Gadakujanga in Jagatsinghpur district will also have a cement manufacturing unit & modern township and other components.
The integrated steel project by JSW Steel is expected to drive economic growth in the region by fostering a robust ancillary and downstream ecosystem with employment potential of approximately 30,000 direct & indirect jobs, it added.
As per the multinational conglomerate, the Industrial Development Corporation of Odisha (IDCO) has handed over 2,958 acres of land to JSW for setting up the integrated manufacturing facility with 30 percent of the total project land to be dedicated for preservation of forests and water bodies.
JSW Group further said that it got environmental clearance from the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change in its fourth application made in January 2024 and already owns substantial iron ore reserves in the state.

Besides, the all-weather, multi-cargo greenfield captive jetty proposed adjacent to the steel plant at Jatadhari Muhan will cater to inbound and outbound cargo requirements of the steel plant and help in reducing infrastructure cost for steel production. It will be developed with an investment of Rs 2,104 crore.
