US-based Pacific Steel Group (PSG) has celebrated a historic milestone with the groundbreaking of the Mojave Micro Mill, the first steel mill to be built in California in the last five decades.
Spanning 174 acres, the advanced manufacturing and recycling facility is set to establish new industry standards for emissions reduction with first-of-its-kind zero carbon emissions steel. It incorporates a state-of-the-art carbon capture system, secondary high-efficiency filtration and NOx emissions mitigation.

The plant, entailing an investment of USD 600 million, is scheduled for commissioning in the first quarter of 2027. It will produce seismic-grade green rebar, essential for infrastructure & climate resilience, while dedicating approximately 63 acres to on-site renewable energy.
