Petrobras has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Brazilian steelmaker Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional SA (CSN), and its parent company CSN Inova Soluções SA, to develop a low-carbon hydrogen plant on a commercial scale in Paraná, Brazil. The agreement represents a first step towards structuring a long-lasting business partnership.

Low-carbon hydrogen can be used in industrial processes or as a fuel and will be obtained through the electrolysis of water from renewable sources of electrical energy. The initiative aims to support the decarbonization efforts of CSN and Petrobras’ operations and products.

The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding is aligned with the 2050 Strategic Plan and the 2025-2029 Business Plan (PN 2025-29), which aim to prepare Petrobras to lead the fair energy transition, reducing its emissions and expanding the offer of more sustainable products.
