The Strategic Business Unit (SBU) of Tata Steel’s Tubes Division has inaugurated a large diameter pipe (LDP) mill in Dhanbad, in line with the company’s rapid growth plans and aggressive strategy to scale up its manufacturing output from the existing 1.2 million MTPA to 2 million MTPA in the next two years.
Developed in collaboration with Shiv Shambhu Commercial Private Limited, the LDP with slitting line facility, having 66 KTPA capacity, has effectively increased the annual capacity of Tata Steel’s Tubes Division by approximately 172,000 TPA for the fiscal year 2024.
The mill’s product range, with the SKU mix ranging from 20X20 to 220X220 mm, is expected to cater to a broad spectrum of construction and infrastructure projects.
This initiative not only marks a milestone for Tata Steel, but also strengthens its partnership with the existing Tube Manufacturing Partners (TMPs) across the country, said Mr. Sanjay S Sahni, Executive-In-Charge of the Tubes division, while inaugurating the facility.
The unit showcased Tata Steel’s commitment to innovation and growth in the steel manufacturing industry, he added.
This is the third-of-its-kind facility in the eastern region and one of the 11 large dia TMP units across India, indicating Tata Steel’s commitment to addressing the growing demands in the construction and infrastructure sectors.
