Tata Steel plans to ramp up NINL’s capacity by 450 percent to 5.5 million TPA in Phase-I and further take it to 9.5 million TPA in Phase-II.

Tata Steel had acquired NINL in 2022, as part of its strategic push to expand its long products segment in India. Since its acquisition, Tata Steel’s Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited (NINL) has increased its capacity to 1 million TPA in 3 years.
The company plans to ramp up NINL’s capacity by 450 percent to 5.5 million TPA in Phase-I and further take it to 9.5 million TPA in Phase-II. The proposals are expected to be taken up with the Tata Steel board later this year.

Managing Director and CEO of Tata Steel, Mr. TV Narendran, disclosed during an investor call that public hearings for the expansion have been completed and applications for environmental clearances have been submitted.
