The Indian government has slapped an anti-dumping duty of USD 121.55 per tonne on imports of hot-rolled flat products of alloy and non-alloy steel from Vietnam, for a period of five years. The move follows a recommendation by the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) which found that imports from Vietnam accounted for approximately 21% of India’s hot-rolled flat steel imports, even though domestic capacity was adequate to meet national demand.

The duty applies to standard hot-rolled flat products used across sectors such as automotive, oil & gas, construction & engineering, but excludes clad, plated or coated products and stainless steel varieties.
