SIKORA AG has supplied its CENTERWAVE 6000 system to Suzhou Bechton Plastic Machinery Co., Ltd. to support high-precision PVC-O pipe production at its new Zhangjiagang factory.

Suzhou Bechton Plastic Machinery Co., Ltd., a leading manufacturer of PVC-O plastic pipe production line equipment, has officially opened its new, state-of-the-art factory in Zhangjiagang, China. This is a significant step in the company’s capacity expansion and technological upgrade. The new factory is dedicated to setting up a production line for high-performance PVC-O pipes, for which extremely precise and stable measuring devices are required.

As Bechton’s partner, SIKORA showcased its CENTERWAVE 6000 in a live demonstration during the factory open day, which was well attended by visitors. During the event, there were a lot of in-depth exchanges and technical discussions with the visitors regarding the measurement accuracy and product stability of the existing devices, particularly addressing the special process requirements for large PVC-O pipe production lines.

Technical strength: addressing three major challenges in large pipe production with precision

This demonstration directly met the core requirements of Bechton’s new PVC-O pipe production line for pipes in 90 to 400 mm diameter range. It presented how the technical strength of the CENTERWAVE 6000 effectively solves critical production challenges:

• 360° comprehensive monitoring: The CENTERWAVE 6000 uses millimeter wave technology to achieve a 100 % coverage of the pipe circumference during measurement, guaranteeing precise monitoring of the wall thickness of each pipe. This technology effectively overcomes the measurement challenges encountered with traditional methods, ensuring homogeneity of the pipe wall thickness, and thereby enhancing the pipe’s pressure rating and durability.
• Easy operation: The system can automatically identify the refractive index of the material, without any calibration. The CENTERWAVE 6000 is easy to operate and provides precise control over the wall thickness, ensuring quality by preventing the production of excessively thin pipes or overly thick pipes. Thanks to intelligent control, the system significantly reduces reliance on operator experience and provides real-time data records and trend diagrams. This provides a solid foundation for process optimization and quality traceability.
• Enhancing production line automation: The system enables the seamless integration and communication with the production line. This facilitates automation upgrades, reducing manual intervention and enhancing production stability. By transmitting real-time measurement data to the PLC line control, the CENTERWAVE 6000 optimizes process parameters, thereby significantly improving production efficiency and product quality.

Strategic advancement: expanding the market for high-performance pipes by strengthening cooperation

During K 2025, Mr. Zhou, Bechton’s General Manager, and his team visited SIKORA’s headquarters in Bremen, Germany. Technical discussions between the two companies led to Bechton placing an order for a CENTERWAVE 6000 for its latest PVC-O production line, thus establishing a strategic cooperative relationship.

Following the successful installation and commissioning of the CENTERWAVE 6000 at Bechton’s new factory, it is now fully operational, playing a key role in ensuring the high quality of PVC-O pipes thanks to its reliable measuring performance.
