Oil India has announced a capacity augmentation project of Numaligarh–Siliguri Product Pipeline (NSPL) The brownfield project worth INR 750 crore was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The 654-km cross-country multi-product pipeline connects Numaligarh in Assam to Siliguri in West Bengal.The pipeline capacity has been expanded from 1.72 million metric TPA to 5.5 million metric TPA, enabling higher fuel transportation. The expansion increased Numaligarh Refinery’s capacity from 3 million metric TPA to 9 million metric TPA, aligned with India’s Hydrocarbon Vision 2030 for the North-East.
The approved cost of the project was INR 860 crore, but decreased by INR 110 crore, demonstrating strong cost discipline. The project also marks an important milestone for the country’s petroleum transportation infrastructure.
