Amit Harlalka to take over as CEO of AM/NS India from July 1, bringing financial leadership experience as AM/NS India enters the next growth phase.

ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India has appointed Amit Harlalka as its Chief Executive Officer, effective July 1, 2026. Mr. Harlalka, currently serving as Chief Financial Officer, will succeed Dilip Oommen, who will step down from his executive role on June 30 and continue on the company’s board.
Mr. Harlalka has been a key part of the leadership team at AM/NS India, overseeing financial strategy and playing a critical role in the company’s expansion plans. Prior to this, he has held senior leadership roles across finance and corporate strategy, bringing extensive experience in capital allocation and business transformation.
Mr. Oommen, the first CEO of the joint venture between ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel, has led the company since its acquisition of Essar Steel in 2019 and will continue to contribute at the board level.

The leadership transition comes at a time when AM/NS India is focusing on expansion and strengthening its downstream and value-added steel portfolio.
