Ace Energy Infrastructure Private Limited recently completed tunneling under the confluence of Kanamakra, Aie and Manas River in the Chirang District in Assam, near Bongaigaon city, thus completing execution of a vital link in the Barauni-Guwahati natural gas pipeline being executed by GAIL (India) Limited as part of Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga project. The breakthrough was achieved on July 2, 2023, marking the end of microtunneling in the project. Ace Energy has now completed construction of a tunnel of diameter 1600 mm across a total length of 1200 m at a depth of 11 – 12 m under the river bed.
In the next few weeks, the construction crews will be installing the 24 in. carbon steel pipeline to transport natural gas within the tunnel, following which it will serve as a final link to complete a 1600 km network of gas pipelines. The network is connected from Barauni to Guwahati, and Guwahati to Numaligarh, crossing major rivers such as Subhansiri and Brhamapura as part of extension of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Urja Ganga Project. Mr. Ravneet Singh, Director, Ace Energy Infrastructure Private Limited, commented, “This milestone is a remarkable achievement for all of us and we hope this is a forerunner for many more breakthroughs in India and also across the globe.”
