ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel (AM/NS) India is poised to benefit from a substantial incentive package valued at up to INR 28,000 crore from the Andhra Pradesh government for its steel manufacturing facility coming up at Anakapalli district of the state, having initial capacity of 7.3 million tonnes.
To be distributed over a 20-year period, the incentives will be granted based on the company’s adherence to project timelines, fulfillment of committed investments, and achievement of targeted job creation.
AM/NS is set to receive several fiscal benefits, including waivers on stamp duty and registration charges for land acquisition. The company will also be eligible for full reimbursement of net State GST and sales tax for 15 years, along with a 15-year exemption from electricity duty. Additionally, power costs will be reimbursed at INR 1 per unit for the same duration, while industrial water will be supplied at INR 50 per kilolitre for 10 years.

The steel manufacturer has begun acquiring land in Anakapalli for the project. An estimated INR 56,000 crore will be invested in the initial phase, which aims for completion by January 2029. This phase will cover about 2,200 acres, with an additional 440 acres allocated for a planned residential township.
