APL Apollo Unveils INR 1500 Crore Plan to Boost Capacity to 6.8 Million Tons by FY28

APL Apollo has announced a comprehensive capacity expansion plan that will raise its total production capability to 6.8 million tons by the fiscal year 2028. This strategic initiative is set to reinforce its position across domestic and international markets.

APL Apollo, in its earnings presentation, unveiled its plan to increase its total capacity from the current 4.5 million tons to 6.8 million tons through a combination of brownfield expansions, greenfield projects, and new investments in speciality tubes by FY28. The company plans to invest Rs 15 billion over the next three years to fund these initiatives.

Brownfield expansions will add 0.8 million tons, including upgrades at locations such as Dubai (200,000 tons) and Raipur (roofing sheets: 500,000 tons; heavy products: 100,000 tons). Greenfield expansion will contribute an additional 1 million tons, with major projects underway in Gorakhpur, Kolkata, Bhuj, New Mallur, and through the shifting of existing production lines.

A new 0.5 million ton facility will specifically target the speciality tubes segment, addressing market demand in structural, oil & gas, water, and mechanical sectors. By diversifying its geographical footprint and expanding into specialized product areas, the company aims to secure a leadership position in both conventional and advanced steel product categories.
