Indipower Steel Works is strengthening its position in the precision tube segment with a diversified portfolio spanning ERW, CDW precision tubes, boiler tubes, heat exchanger tubes and section tubes. Following its acquisition of the tube business of Caparo Engineering India Ltd., the company has focused on stabilising operations, strengthening quality systems and building customer confidence, while also advancing automation and process efficiency. In an exclusive interview with Tube & Pipe India, Mr. Nitanshu Gupta, Managing Director, Indipower Steel Works Pvt. Ltd., discusses the company’s product capabilities, post-acquisition growth, technology priorities and opportunities emerging across India’s expanding manufacturing ecosystem.

Tube & Pipe India: Please briefly introduce your company’s tube and pipe product portfolio and key end-use sectors it caters to?
Nitanshu Gupta: Indipower Steel Works manufactures precision steel tubes. Our product portfolio includes ERW, CDW precision tubes, boiler tubes, heat exchanger tubes and section tubes. We primarily supply to the automotive sector, along with the engineering, energy and infrastructure industries. Our focus has always been on quality, consistency and customer satisfaction.
TPI: Could you please elaborate on the production capacities of each of your tube and pipe product categories?
NG: Our installed capacity is around 3,000 MT per month, and currently we are producing more than 2,200 MT per month. Our objective is not merely to utilise capacity, but to manufacture high-quality precision tubes that consistently meet customer expectations.
TPI: It has been a year since Indipower acquired the tube business of Caparo Engineering India Ltd. What have been the key milestones achieved since the acquisition, and what does the company’s growth roadmap look like?
NG: Following the acquisition, our first focus was to stabilise operations, build a strong team and develop market trust. In just one year, we have achieved more than 25% growth and have also received the ‘Best Supplier Quality’ Award from Gabriel India. Going forward, our focus is on further strengthening automation, quality systems and customer relationships to achieve sustainable growth.

TPI: What is currently the biggest challenge faced by the tube and pipe industry?
NG: The biggest challenges are raw material price volatility, increasing quality expectations and a competitive market. Today, customers expect not just the product, but also consistent quality, on-time delivery and reliability. Companies that continuously improve will be the ones that grow in the long term.
TPI: How important are automation and digitalisation in your future growth plans?
NG: Automation and digitalisation have now become a necessity rather than a choice. They improve productivity, ensure consistent quality and enhance process efficiency. We are continuously upgrading our manufacturing and quality systems so that we can provide better value to our customers.

TPI: Looking ahead, where do you see the next major growth opportunities for the tube and pipe industry?
NG: India is emerging as a global manufacturing hub. There are strong growth opportunities in the automotive, EV, infrastructure, railways and renewable energy sectors. I believe the next three to five years will be very promising for the tube industry, especially for companies that focus on quality and innovation.

TPI: What are your expectations from TPF Hyderabad 2026, and what opportunities do you see in the Indian market?
NG: Platforms such as Tube & Pipe Fair are very important for the industry. They provide us with an opportunity to connect with customers, suppliers and technology partners. Along with showcasing our products, we want to explore new business opportunities and long-term partnerships. The Indian market has very strong growth potential, and we want to be an active part of that growth.
