Jindal Steel completes Angul expansion, doubling capacity to 12 MTPA, boosting output, efficiency, and strengthening India’s domestic steel manufacturing capabilities.

Jindal Steel Limited has completed a 6 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) expansion at its Angul Integrated Steel Complex in Odisha, taking total capacity at the site to 12 MTPA.
The milestone was achieved with the commissioning of the third Basic Oxygen Furnace (BOF-3) of 3 MTPA, alongside full operationalisation of BOF-2 and supporting upstream and downstream infrastructure, including coke ovens and the CRM complex.
With this, the company’s overall crude steel capacity has risen to 15.6 MTPA, including 3.6 MTPA at its Raigarh facility.

The expanded capacity is expected to increase production volumes, improve utilisation levels, and enhance operating leverage. The company also aims to strengthen margins, optimise costs, and drive profitability through greater scale and integration.
