MIPPL Plans to Invest INR 2,000 Crore in 5 Years

MIPPL intends to go public and hold an initial public offering (IPO) in FY2026. This was revealed by Mr. Gopal Babu Agarwal, Managing Director, and Mr. Abhishek Agarwal, CEO, Maruti Ispat & Pipes Private Limited, during a joint interaction with Tube & Pipe India.

Tube & Pipe India: Kindly share details about the business journey of Maruti Ispat and Pipes Private Limited, highlighting major milestones and crucial achievements.

Gopal Babu Agarwal: Founded in 2009, Maruti Ispat & Pipes Private Limited (MIPPL), based out of Hyderabad, is a subsidiary of the MS Agarwal Group and is South India’s second-largest secondary steel manufacturer. The company is an ISO- and BIS-certified company with operations spread across Southern, Central, and Western regions. The group’s steel facility is fully integrated and is strategically located at Mantralayam-Kurnool (Andhra Pradesh).

TPI: Please explain how fully integrated are your steel plants, and what is your annual production capacity?

GBA: Currently, the company has reached production capacities of 150,000 MT for sponge iron, 144,000 MT for the steel melting shop, 8 MW energy production from the power plant, and 144,000 MT for pipe & tube production.

TPI: What does the product basket of Maruti Ispat and Pipes contain? Which are the industries where your products find application?

Abhishek Agarwal: MIPPL offers a diverse selection of steel products such as sponge iron, billets, ERW pipes. MS VAYU steel pipes is the brand name under which MIPPL manufactures high-quality steel tubes and pipes. These products are manufactured using sophisticated manufacturing techniques and superior raw materials. MIPPL guarantees that its products satisfy its clients’ rigorous specifications by adhering to a philosophy of sustainability and safety. The company’s dedication to quality is evident in its utilization of German cold saw and Japanese spectrometer technologies, which ensure that each tube and pipe produced is physically and chemically verified.

The MS VAYU steel pipes are crafted from top-quality iron ore and coal sourced globally. These raw materials are processed into sponge iron in the KLIN unit, chemically tested, and then melted in a steel melting furnace. The liquid metal is cast into billets and shaped into ERW pipes. After final quality testing, the products are shipped across India.

TPI: Kindly tell us more about your market footprint and major clientele.

GBA: Our operations and clients are spread across the Southern, Central and Western regions of India.
Expanding our reach to North and east region in coming months. MIPPL is establishing new standards in the steel sector to drive growth and sustainability.

AA: MIPPL has always been committed to producing top-quality products, hence, the manufacturing unit has been equipped with modern facilities and a competent R&D team to produce quality pipes, sponge iron, ERW steel pipes and billets from its 300-acre plant in Mantralayam, Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh. The company is backed by a dedicated research and development team and a robust infrastructure that helps us to align our products according to the customers’ specifications.

TPI: Kindly share your views on trade fairs. How do you think such events help the industry?

GBA: Trade exhibitions facilitate communication with industry stakeholders by providing a broad platform for interaction with specialized target audiences and in-person interactions with end users.

TPI: What are your expectations from Tube & Pipe Fair 2024?

GBA: We anticipate the opportunity to interact with industry titans in Hyderabad and the surrounding areas where MIPPL may lead the market and demonstrate its strength.

TPI: Please share details of recent developments at Maruti Ispat And Pipes Private Limited. Where do you see yourself five years down the line?

AA: MIPPL has launched MS VAYU, a new brand it will use to sell ERW steel pipes in the market. The plans to invest INR 2000 crore over the next five years which will add 6 lakh metric tonnes capacity. This is a key part of MIPPL’s expansion plan which will further solidify its position in the market. The company also aims to extend its manufacturing facilities to new regions in order to expand swiftly to the Northern and Eastern regions of the country.

The company also plans to diversify its business across other segments as part of its strategic plans. In order to fuel its expansion and diversification plans, MIPPL intends to go public and hold an initial public offering in FY26. Our goal is to strengthen our position in the steel industry and increase market presence by providing high-quality products to our customers with sight on IPO. Our efforts to expand in Northern states like J&K, Punjab, Uttarakhand, and Eastern states of West Bengal and Odisha will greatly contribute to this goal. The ongoing plant and capacity expansion is expected to generate additional employment for the next five years. Additionally, we are actively pursuing acquisition opportunities.
