Tube and Pipe India: Kindly walk us through your business journey, starting from 1999 to 2024, highlighting major milestones and crucial achievements.

Anish Sheth: Total Tools & Equipments Private Limited has been a witness to the transformation undergone by the tube industry in the manufacturing process. We have been in the industry since 1994 and have evolved with experience. It has been a learning process and thanks to this journey, Total Tools has been able to position itself in the market as a partner in cutting solutions, not just a supplier or vendor of tools.

TPI: Please give us information about your infrastructure and manufacturing capabilities.

AS: We have the largest network of branches with 13 CNC sharpening centers across India and one in Dubai. We are pioneers in setting up a TCT refurbishing plant, wherein we specialize in converting scrap blades to near original condition, which can improve the economics of cutting costs. Our head office is in Andheri, Mumbai.

TPI: What does the product basket of Total Tools & Equipments look like? Which are the sectors where your products find application?

AS: We are the leading saw blade supplier in India. We supply HSS circular saw blades with coatings, TCT circular saw blades with coatings, friction saw blades and tube scarfing inserts for OD & ID. These products are used for cold saw applications in tube manufacturing, cut-off applications in tube converting, and for various applications in tube mills.

TPI: What is your USP that gives you an edge over others?

AS: Our USP lies in our experience, technical expertise and the ability to provide solutions for economic cutting of tubes in any manufacturing condition of the customer. We have extensive experience of working with tube mill manufacturers over the globe. We have a very good understanding of the design concepts of a tube mill and the cut-offs used in the process. This makes us one of the unique partners to the tube industry. We can upskill any cutting environment by providing solutions to reduce cost per tonne and producing tubes in the most economical way. For this, we have invested heavily in machinery, software development and technology in India. This gives the customers lasting results in the lifetime of saw blades and beyond. We are amongst the few in the world who can convert a scrap blade and produce it to near-original condition.

TPI: Kindly tell us more about your market footprint and major clientele.

AS: Our market footprint can be judged by the number of years we have been in the market. It has been nearly three decades and during this time, we have worked with various mill manufacturers like Rollform Equipments, RollMakers Ghaziabad, Gallium Equipments, P.P. Rolling, etc. We have a wide customer base across the country. Our major partners include Tata Steel, APL Apollo, Jindal Steel Tubes Limited, Surya Roshni and Nezone Group.

TPI: Research plays an important role in the growth of a company. Please elaborate.

AS: Research is the only way a company can sustain its position in the market and keep on elevating itself as well as the industry. Research plays diverse roles in different areas. It has significance in technical and administrative departments, in the technology segment, as well as in providing user-friendly solutions to customers. It is a pertinent subject, which is quite relatable and synonymous to Total Tools. We invest a major part of our budget in R&D. We believe that it is the only way to change our relationship with our clients. Today, a customer is not looking for a supplier but a partner, who can be part of their product development and contribute in producing it in the most economical way.

We have the largest network of branches with 13 CNC sharpening centers across India and one in Dubai.

TPI: How do you plan to enhance your business presence in India as well as at the global level?

AS: We have already created the largest network of branches in India with CNC service centers. We intend to invest more in this area and give such solutions to large customers in their premises. We have already branched out in Dubai and plan similar centers in the neighboring countries very soon. This will be our road map for the next coming decade: to fan out our operations in the global scenario.

TPI: Kindly share your views on trade fairs. How do you think such events help the industry?

AS: Trade fairs are catalysts in evolving the consumer and industry to a better future. They show future trends of the market and the players can make strategic decisions based on their participation. I do believe that such events should be more & more informative, & content should be the focus area in trade fairs. I am only concerned that trade fairs should not become market places, or consumer hubs which are dominated by a few industry leaders. The trade fairs objective should be well preserved & it should focus in giving a consumer the experience of times to come.

TPI: What are your expectations from Tube & Pipe Fair 2024?

AS: We expect TPF 2024 to help us meet our industry partners and update us on the recent industrial developments in India & across the world. It is the best platform to remain updated and informed. We expect that the Tube & Pipe Fair 2024 will be organized in such a way that we will be able to achieve the same.

TPI: Please share recent developments at Total Tools & Equipments. Where do you see yourself five years down the line?

AS: For the last couple of years, we have been working on two main areas: a) giving more alternatives to customers, and b) being able to offer more than just a product to customers. We are investing more in the above areas, as we really believe that a relationship of a vendor with a customer should be of a partner, who can contribute in improving the final product. Vendors should be considered as part of the team. For that, we have to keep on upgrading ourselves to be in line with the customers’ growth. In the next five years, we aspire to become the most-preferred partner in cutting solutions to maximum customers in India and its neighboring countries.
