Tosyalı Holding, a leading steel and iron manufacturer from Türkiye, has revealed its plans to make pipe shipments from Türkiye to Europe through Baika Steel Tubular System (STS), a leading steel pipeline manufacturer of Spain, which they acquired last month.

As per a statement issued by the company, Tosyalı Holding has acquired Baika Steel Tubular System (STS), following its investments in Algeria, Senegal and Angola.

The steelmaker said the STS plant, having an annual production capacity of 150,000 tonnes of spiral pipes, would meet the rising demand in Europe with the increasing new hydrogen distribution networks.

Stressing on its strategic importance of STS acquisition for pipe shipments to Europe, Romania, Italy and the Balkans, as well as for the production and supply to Western Europe, the company said it was planning to increase the capacity of the facility to 240,000 tonnes per year with the new investments.

Fuat Tosyalı, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Tosyalı Holding, told state-run Anadolu Agency (AA) that the company would start working on increasing its capacity as soon as it acquired the factory in Spain. It will be one of the most important production bases of the company in Europe.

He said the company currently has the world’s largest rooftop power plant (solar energy) and aimed at becoming a 100 percent consumer of renewable energy and producer of green steel.

Attending the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Switzerland’s Davos recently, Tosyalı said the company was interested in being at the center of discussions on global warming, preventive measures and sectors affecting the warming.

Speaking about the company’s recent industrial investments in Iskenderun, Tosyali said they have just finished establishment of a flat steel plant with a capacity of 4 million tonnes per annum and the country’s first quantum furnace with the lowest energy consumption and one of most important investments on the road to green steel. The company will continue its investments in the energy sector this year also, he added.
