Utkarsh India Limited is aiming to increase its production capacity to 2,40,000 MTPA by 2024-25 and strengthen its position as Eastern India’s largest producer of steel ERW pipes, targeting INR 5000 crore in revenue by FY25-26. This was revealed by Mr. Utkarsh Bansal, Executive Director, Utkarsh India Limited, during his recent interaction with Tube & Pipe India.
TPI: Please give us a brief outline of your business journey, along with crucial milestones.
Utkarsh Bansal: Utkarsh India Limited began producing steel pipes 40 years ago under the “Bansal” brand, which remains highly reputed in Eastern India. Over the last two decades, we’ve grown into a leading name nationwide for steel tubes and pipes, serving key sectors like infrastructure, railways, and urban development.
TPI: Kindly shed some light on your manufacturing capabilities and facilities.
UB: We operate two state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities equipped with six tube mills, three slitting lines, and six galvanizing plants. Our capacity includes producing MS ERW pipes from 15mm NB to 400mm NB, and we’re expanding to larger diameters up to 20 inches. Our facilities ensure high-quality production and timely delivery, supported by in-house testing and finishing capabilities.
TPI: Tell us about your product portfolio and its application in various industries.
UB: Our diverse product portfolio caters to applications in air & water lines, structural frameworks, fire sprinklers, and more. We’re also enhancing our capabilities to manufacture larger diameter pipes and maintain a robust stock to meet market demands promptly.
TPI: What are the recent developments at your end? What are your future plans?
UB: By 2024-25, we aim to increase our production capacity to 2,40,000 MT annually, focusing on expanding our large-diameter pipe capabilities and adding new manufacturing mills. Our goal is to solidify our position as Eastern India’s largest producer of steel ERW pipes, targeting INR 5000 crore in revenue by 2025-26.
TPI: Please shed some light on your market footprint and clientele.
UB: We have a strong presence in Eastern India with a network of over 50 distributors and 1000 retailers. Nationally, our client base includes major players across infrastructure sectors, such as NTPC, Tata Steel, and Indian Railways. We’re also recognized as a Government of India export house, serving international markets.
By 2024-25, we aim to increase our production capacity to 2,40,000 MT annually, focusing on expanding our large-diameter pipe capabilities and adding new manufacturing mills.
TPI: What is your future business roadmap?
UB: Our roadmap includes achieving INR 5000 crore revenue by FY 25-26, expanding our market share in the steel tubes and pipes segment, and leveraging advanced technologies like SAP S/4HANA to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

TPI: Share your outlook on the tube and pipe industry. How do you see the market evolving in the future?
UB: The Indian steel tubes and pipes market, valued at INR 60,000 crore, is poised for steady growth, driven by Government initiatives such as the Jal Jeevan Mission. We anticipate continuous demand growth across various sectors, contributing to the expansion of the industry.
