ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AMNS India) has launched two new colour-coated steel products – Optigal Prime and Optigal Pinnacle, targeting to capture 25 percent share in the country’s colour-coated steel market within the next three years.

Launched as part of its premium colour-coated steel portfolio – Optigal, the new product line will be manufactured at the company’s Pune facility. Optigal offers a 15-year warranty and is suited for urban and moderately corrosive environments.

The innovative, European-standard steel products with high corrosion resistance, introduced for the first time in India, will target high-end infrastructure and construction projects, including railway stations, state-of-the-art airports, metros, highways and large buildings.

According to Mr. Ranjan Dhar, Director and Vice President of Sales and Marketing, AM/NS India, the company is currently the sole domestic manufacturer of C4 category high-end corrosion-resistant colour-coated steel in India. Mr. Dhar revealed that they have already secured their first order, but refused to divulge any details.

He said the company would initially focus on meeting domestic demand for its newly-launched products. Potential export opportunities to West Asian countries may be considered at a later stage, depending on market conditions, he added.

The current colour-coated steel capacity of AM/NS India stands at around 7,00,000 TPA, with plans to expand to 1,000,000 million TPA soon.
