Egyptian steel producer Ashry Steel Group is setting up a new stainless steel pipe plant with production capacity of 250,000 MTPA worth EUR 600 million.

According to company Chairman Ayman El Ashry, the Egyptian government has approved the required production licenses and certifications for the facility, which is slated to begin operations in the next two years.

The move aligns with Egypt’s strategic framework to boost domestic steel capacity, lower import dependence, and strengthen its position as a regional steel powerhouse.

The approval followed the government’s efforts to boost domestic steel manufacturing, reduce dependence on imports, and position Egypt as a regional export hub under a new industry strategy, said Industry Minister Kamel El Wazir during his meetings with major domestic steel producers.
