Strategic Significance:
Bokaro is located in Jharkhand, India’s second-highest steel-producing state, offering proximity to raw material sources and key logistics hubs. The expansion transitions BMWIL from a concentrated customer base towards a diversified mix of customers and end-use industries, enhancing revenue stability, while a wider value-added product portfolio supports improved margin realisation across the cycle. The initiative is well aligned to India’s structural demand-supply gap in specialised coated steel, further supported by safeguard duties, Quality Control Orders (QCOs) and ongoing import substitution.
